Video

I tried to post Brian's rapel video, but it didn't take. It might be too large or too long. I'll try again later.

Our Summer

It's been such a long time since I've posted on here that I am amazed I remembered the password and on the first go around too. Anyhow, our summer is going great. Brian is loving his job. He is detailing (substituting if you will) with Central Oregon Helitack. Basically, he is working with helicopters to supress wildland fires. He either lands in hard to reach areas or they rapel off of the helicopter in even harder to reach areas. He also hooks up buckets and such to helicopters, which are then filled with water to drop on fires. If you're interested in what he's doing you can check out this website for his crew...www.centraloregonhelitack.com. The site has a tab for photos. I'll also post a video that Brian took while on a practice rapel. He had his first rapel on a fire yesterday, but I haven't talked to him to find out the details. Unfortunately, due to our jobs we haven't seen much of each other in the last couple of weeks. My job is also going well. I should say jobs. I'm working two again this summer, which is getting to be a bit much. I'm still enjoying both jobs, but a day off once in a while would be welcome. I think that next year I'll just stick to the Forest Service and call it good. I'm working as a fire lookout and at a resort's kayak rental shop. I love the fire lookout job. I can't believe that I get paid to hang out in the woods. It's been a good experience for me and I plan on sticking with it next year. I've posted some photos of my summer on facebook. I might put some on here too though. The best part of this summer though is that I was able to get days off to go to Michigan to celebrate (early) my grandparents 65th wedding anniversary. We were able to keep the party a surprise, which is amazing considering some 20 people were running around trying to keep it a secret from my grandparents (in close vicinity with them) for about a week prior to the party. It was a blast though. I'm so glad that I could attend. I was able to see both sets of grandparents at this party, as well as my in-laws. It was perfect. In all, I spent a week in Northern Michigan on a lake with my entire family. We have an annual family camp that has been the center of my summer since its inception 1983. I'm starting to ramble though, so I'll write again when I can be a little more cohesive. It was a long day at work.
